Homefun
Homefun is an extremely important part of children’s learning process and has a significant part to play in their progress at school.  It is important that students are taking part in quality homework activities with an adult.
Reading homework does not just take the form of reading a book once for a few minutes at night.  There are lots of activities, which can be done to help your child achieve in reading, writing and numeracy. 
Reading- Concepts About Print
  • Make sure the children know where to start reading.
  • Ask them to point to each word as read.
  • Discuss story and pictures.
  • Read story several times both with and without the pictures
  • Ask children questions about the story- Who, What, Why, Where, When and How?
  • Encourage children to sound out words.
  • Ask them to point to individual sound i.e
    • “ point to a word beginning with a”
    • “point to a word that ends with d”
  • Practice
    • Alphabet sounds
    • Blends sheet
    • Reading wordlists
  • Ask children to point to blends within the story i.e.
    • “ Can you find any blend sounds?”( ai, sh, ch, th, ow, cr , bl) etc
    • “can you find any magic e words? (Came and ride) etc
  • Ask children to point to and discuss the meaning of:
    • capital letters
    • full stops
    • commas
    • question marks
    • exclamation marks
  • Ask them to predict what might happen in the story and why they think that.
  • Ask them to re-tell the story in sequence.
Numeracy        

  • Count forwards and backwards up to 5.
  • Count forwards and backwards up to 10.
  • Count forwards and backwards up to 20.
  • Number before and after up to 5.
  • Number before and after up to 10.
  • Number before and after up to 20.
     

Water bottles and School hats

Please ensure that your child brings a drink bottle each day filled with WATER.

School hats must be worn each day as pert of your child’s school uniform during Term 1 and Term 4. Please ensure that all hats and uniforms are clearly named.


Lunches

Lunchtime is between 12.30 and 1.20pm. The students have supervised eating first for 20 minutes and then playtime from 12.50pm to 1.20pm when school begins for the afternoon.

We do encourage healthy choices for lunches. Lunches can be ordered on a Tuesday to Friday. 

Tuesdays are usually only Hotdog days. 


Start times and Student absences

School begins at 9.00am. Students are not to arrive at school before 8.30am due to supervision and safety issues.  If your child is absent please notify me (the classroom teacher) or the office. Students will be dismissed from the classroom at 3pm. Please wait outside for your child as not to disturb the class.
